Storme Montague has been on the run for ten years. Ever since the night her father and brother were killed, the Breeds have been after her. Her father and brother were part of a group of scientists enlisted by the government to make genetically altered weapons. These weapons were people altered with animal genetics to become hybrids, part animal part human. The night Storme’s world was changed was the night the Breeds struck back against the scientists. Storme’s father gave her a data chip containing all the research they had done while her brother was destroying everything in the lab. Storme was sent out of the lab with the knowledge that someone would come for her. Storme didn’t understand that a Breed was sent to find her.
Styx is a Wolf Breed who is sent to find Storme and bring her back to the Breed compound. Storme has been eluding him and his partners for the past ten years. The information on the data chip she is said to have is so important that people are willing to kill her for it. Styx hopes he can get to her before that happens. Styx doesn’t realize that Storme has more in store for him than the elusive data chip. She may be the woman he’s been looking for to complete his life.
I have to say I am a big fan of Lora Leigh’s Breed series. It is a fresh and exciting take on the paranormal world. While I’m a big fan of the vampire stories, it’s lovely to see more tales of shape-shifters come to the forefront. This series reminds me a lot of Lynsay Sands’ Argeneau series only with a shape-shifter point of view.
For every Breed, there seems to be one person that complements them perfectly. Storme seems to be that perfect person for Styx, even though both have a hard time figuring that out. Bravo to Lora Leigh for bringing readers another wonderful entry into the world of the Breeds.
