After a holiday fling in Jamaica, Samara Murphy discovers she is pregnant. Normally she is not a woman to indulge in reckless one night stands. But then men like the sexy Connor O'Riley don’t often cross her path. And what should a girl on holidays do? Ignore the attractive man or go with her heart and hormones? So the hormones won out and the surprise of the pregnancy is not the only thing Samara didn't count on. She didn't count on the fact that maybe she is still a little in love with her holiday romance. But what can come of it? Supposing she can find him, does Connor O’Riley even want a child?
The man in question is an undercover DEA agent. The woman Connor met in Jamaica has been on his mind. Samara was more than just a one night stand to him. Although she is unforgettable, Connor is realistic in knowing he will probably never see her again. But to his surprise, Samara leaves a message for him. Even more surprising, Connor discovers the she has been checking out his records in an effort to track him down. But someone else is also investigating Connor’s files, and this person is out to do him harm. So Connor heads for New England to investigate this sudden interest in his life. Is Samara somehow mixed up in the dangerous happenings that he finds himself in?
When Connor turns up at Samara's home he is surprised by a few things. Firstly, someone has just broken into her home and the lady in question is more than capable of handling the situation. Secondly, she announces she is pregnant with his baby. Not what Connor expected to hear.
Samara is more than a little surprised to see Connor on her doorstep. Normally her world is not the slightest bit exciting. But suddenly she is pregnant, being attacked and the man of her dreams Connor reappears out of nowhere. What exactly is going on? And why is someone out to destroy Connor and endanger Samara in return?
Surrpise is full of action, adventure and intrigue. I liked the twists the story took. It kept it fresh and interesting. The romance between Samara and Connor is sweet and passionate. Here are two people who really don't know each other, accept in the biblical sense, being thrown together to deal with a surprise pregnancy and someone wanting to kill them. That’s a lot for any one to handle. I also enjoyed the secondary story which features Samara's best friend Macayla and Connor's colleague Jared. I really liked their first spontaneous meeting. I would love to know where their story leads. Hopefully it will spin off into another book.
For me, I found it a tad unrealistic how well Samara, and especially Connor, took the whole baby thing. But that's just maybe my natural cynicism.
I liked Surrpise. It's packed with all the good elements for an enjoyable read.
