This is a new spin on William Shakespeare’s "The Taming of the Shrew." The spin? Katharina is a werewolf. It resembles the original story, keeping some of the most famous speeches—but gives us the reasons why she became such a shrew and explains her anti-marriage sentiment.

In this story, Petruchio is in need of a wealthy wife. He inherited his father’s lands, but most of the cash went to pay debts. Now he needs an influx of cash to regain the prosperity his family once had.

Katharina is double scarred. Losing the love of her life and being turned has deeply scarred her heart. And while Petruchio starts off trying to tame her just to have a marriage, it isn’t long before we can all see how much they need each other.

This is a very fast read. It’s really about a novella in length so it was a nice way to spend a chilly afternoon. I got to be transported to Italy and enjoy the fireworks as Katharina and Petruchio tried to one-up each other. Their antics were totally outrageous and really made me smile.

With a little "writer’s license" at the end, I was pleasantly surprised at the conclusion. Whether you are a Shakespeare fan or not, I think you will enjoy this newest rendition of "The Taming of the Shrew."
