"One Riot. One Ranger" was the motto that Texas Ranger Jesse Walker lived by. A veteran undercover officer, she was comfortable working any situation, until a stalker targeted Senator Andrew Wallis.  As the violence escalates against the Senator, Jesse finds herself entering unfamiliar territory. Can she keep Andrew safe while protecting her heart?

Ms. Blaeske’s debut novel is a wonderful addition to readers everywhere. She writes a tender love story that isn’t "sappy" in its presentation. I loved the rough-and-tumble heroine. What a stud she is! Not only is she good-looking, wears jeans all the time and is a hopeless romantic, but she also is packing a concealed weapon. What a woman!

It gets even better when you put the denim queen as the "bodyguard" to the Senator dressing in the Armani suits and tuxedos. A self-proclaimed tomboy protecting Andrew in his political arena where image is everything adds such life and humor to their interactions. I was giggling at the images Ms. Blaeske painted for us.

While I truly loved the romance side of this book, the mystery/suspense was what I found to be lacking. I thought the prologue was an awesome start and would really go somewhere. However, most of the suspense sections seemed forced and telegraphed the ending. It was not a "who-done-it" for very long. I figured it out in record time and was not surprised by the twists and turns the story took. Being a recovering Nancy Drew addict, I like my mystery/suspense books to keep me guessing with every page. I didn’t find that here.

I think Ms. Blaeske has a great debut novel. I hope you enjoy the romance of Jesse and Andrew. They are such an unlikely pair and they mesh so well. Their story was very enjoyable to read.
