They have nothing in common, but the attraction is immediate…

She has no interest in the marriage and picket fence thing. Daria Marshall's a free spirit, a gypsy. Putting down roots is something she avoids. Perhaps the truth is, she's afraid of those roots and what they might lead to. Afterall, other than her older sister, she's never had much of a family. But now, perhaps it's time to rethink, to stop running...

Running used to keep Daria one step ahead of herself, of her feelings, of her gift. Her gift isn’t something she goes out of her way to use (she sees dead people). In the past it’s created a bit of a problem for her, but suddenly an older man, "Sad Eyes", appears to her while on a visit to her sister; and he doesn’t seem to understand, she’s not going to deliver his message, to whomever.

His home, his life are everything to Ralph Chickalini, yet it seems as if both are being pulled out from under him. His father passed away, the only home he’s ever known or loved is to be sold, his love life is phft, in the toilet. He doesn’t know what to do. He does know he doesn’t want anything to change.

Soon after Daria and Ralph meet, it’s almost as if they’ve found what they’ve ultimately been looking for, but their goals aren’t compatible, nothing about them is it seems except for their attraction. Their lives are polar opposites.

There’s a connection between them, however, one that can’t be avoided. One that "Sad Eyes" seems to want to help perpetuate…and as change becomes imminent, what is that going to mean for them individually and as a couple? Do they have so little in common after all?

Thankfully Ms. Markham apparently didn't feel the need to fill this work of fiction with violence, profanity, or graphic sex. It’s great fiction that stands on its own and gives the reader hours of sighs and smiles and some anxious moments to boot.

Ms. Markham has created real characters with fears, desires, and dreams. Characters who ultimately realize they’ve got to come to terms with who they are and where they’re going before they find the other half of themselves whether with each other or someone else. Characters whose lives and hearts need a touch of magic.

And it must have been some kind of magic as the present tense viewpoint often distracts me from the story, however this time the story immediately took on a life of its own.

That’s Amore is poignant, classy, sweet yet spicy. A great romance.
