Rachael O'Leary, a governess, finds herself homeless and destitute. With a fighting instinct to survive, she "stows away" in one of the ton's closed up townhouse's. There she secretly bakes and sells scrumptious cakes in order to try and earn a living (a pittance) and pay the owner of the townhouse back for her room and board.
Connor Kenroe, Duke of Killgory, reluctantly returns to London. He'd been in Egypt for years on a dig (in truth it's where he wishes to still be), but the time had come for him to return, sell his artifacts and liquidate most of his assets in order to pay the taxes on his beloved ancestral home, Bel Cameroon.
His wish, that no one know of his return isn't granted. He finds Rachael in his bed and soon after his mother and ex-fiancé pop in on him.
From there as each page is turned, surprises sneak up and plans go awry. Many things aren't as they seem.
In the short number of pages allotted Sandy Blair gives the reader much in the way of emotions. A connection to the characters is felt. They're the kind you'd want to meet and get to know in person.
I'd have loved for The Accidental Duchess to have been a single-title. I can only imagine, given the time to flesh it out, what Sandy would've done with the story and characters. She has a way with all of her characters, secondary included. Their feelings and emotions practically emanate from the page.
As for To Woo A Duke, well who wouldn't want a hero like him? He's got it all! It would've been a great single-title, too.
And A Touch Of Magic proves dreams can come true.
How To Marry A Duke is a very pleasant read. It'll take you away and give you a few hours of enjoyment.
