Whitney, Mitzi and Kim all work together and are in varying stages in their lives. Whitney is newly married to a young doctor and really enjoying the splendor of love. Mitzi is a bit further along in her marriage and is a much pampered wife. Kim is married with one son and is also a survivor of cancer so her husband is very protective.
All three women find themselves in the place of wanting a child. Mitzi is having difficulty getting pregnant while Kim is having difficulty getting her husband to agree to a pregnancy because of the past cancer. Whitney is having some trouble even deciding if she wants to get pregnant.
Through various events, they each find themselves expecting a child and this manuscript chronicles the stages they are going through. There are some great laughs along the way sprinkled with a few bumps—some bigger than others.
Judy Baer has created a humorous look at the life of a pregnant woman and the people around her. There are numerous chuckles over the men who share their office. Harry is their boss and really getting freaked by the idea of them all going out at the same time and what that will do to their department. While Harry is fighting his fears, Bryan is struggling to deal with sympathy pregnancy for the three of them—morning sickness and all.
The characters were cleverly written and easy to relate to. Not only were they each strong women but they each were such individuals that the reader could easily find one of the three to identify with.
If you are a woman who has had a baby, you are going to chuckle so many times throughout this story as you remember what it was like for you. (In fact, this would be a great baby shower gift.
) However, the down side to this book is that if you haven’t had been pregnant a lot of the humor is a bit lost.
