Lottie MacElwain is running from a mad man. He is a psycho who wants to bathe in her blood and steal her power to heal. That's enough reason for anyone to run. But add to this the fact that this killer murdered her sister and this Halloween is looking horribly deadly for Lottie.  Her late sister, Maddy was known for her prophesies yet she could not fortell her own death, however she could foretell Lottie's. The prophecy Maddy foretold for Lottie was that she would die on Halloween - that is unless she can find a moose to save her. So what is a girl to do but go find a moose? Sounds simple.

Lottie flees Toronto, hoping that if her stalker cannot find her then he cannot kill her. She escapes to her family's cottage in Newfoundland. In her heart she knows is delaying the inevitable but maybe if she can find the prophesized moose then she will be saved. But instead of a moose she finds Perry Sullivan, sexy neighbor next door, who rescues her after she crashes her car in her erratic escape. There is an instant attraction between the two of them, but is this the time for romance when a mad man is stalking her? Or is it synchronicity that the man she is attracted to just happens to be wearing a moose t-shirt....hhmmm...

I liked the character of Lottie MacElwain as she is funny, smart and full of attitude. The whole story is written in a tone that makes the characters realistically human and likeable. Some of Lottie's thoughts and words were similar to things I would feel and say myself. And Perry - well, I don't want to give anything away but everything is not as it seems with our hero. The secret he hides is revealed at the end. In some ways I was surprised but in others I wasn't as although the story is quirky, his secret made sense when I thought back about what I had read.  That is if a story about a moose saving a woman can make sense. But there it is

Moose abound in Beginnings: The Last Prophecy. I found the book amusing, quirky and weird. I love the wild prediction of a moose saving Lottie's life. But then why not? Is that any weirder than any other prediction some way out clairvoyants can give? I also loved the first sentence of the book. It was a real attention grabber.

The person who turns out to be her stalker is obvious but again not obvious. It's more the fact that you go 'ah, of course.' The ending is quite violent, so if you're squeamish, flip over those couple of bits and keep reading.

The only letdown, to me, was I would have liked more brought up about the sisters powers. As it was I had to draw my own conclusions.

I enjoyed the quirky Beginnings: The Last Prophecy. It's paranormal, funny and romantic. If you want to read about a moose saving the girl, read it.
