Dr. Rikki Kenn, a virus hunter for the CDC, is sent to investigate mysterious deaths in a refugee camp. Meanwhile, the Dirk and Steele Agency sends Amiri, a cheetah shifter, and Eddie, who has fire starting powers, to protect Rikki, after several doctors turn up missing. Once Rikki and the agents arrive at their destination, it becomes clear that someone is after Rikki, and they still have the mysterious illness with which to contend.

The Last Twilight is a riveting paranormal romance with tortured characters and a pulse-pounding storyline. Ms. Liu grabs the reader's attention from the first and doesn't let up until the very end. There are many times throughout the book that I worried about the characters-- many of whom are very tortured souls. The main characters, Amiri and Rikki, must learn to trust each other in order to survive, and, along the way, attraction turns into a deep, abiding love. This book, also, contains one of the creepiest villains, that I have ever read.

The Last Twilight is highly recommended to the paranormal reader seeking an intense romance with lots of thrilling action and suspense.
