In The Pastor’s Assignment Kim O’Brien delivers a well-written romance. If you aren’t familiar with Heartsong Romances, they are the romance books you can open in front of mom or grandma and never feel embarrassed by what you are reading. They are slightly shorter books and therefore, I applaud Ms. O’Brien for this book. The story holds together throughout the entire book which I find authors can have trouble with in a shorter format. It has family values without being preachy. I think Ms. O’Brien did a masterful job of holding together the book with the storyline and the romance of the whole thing. It is not glued together with sex, the glue is the story that unfolds and the relationship that develops.

Laney is the best kind of girl to read about. She’s a total clutz who is a walking tribute to Murphy’s Law. If it can go wrong, it will when Laney is around. So when she stumbles innocently onto Detective Ty Steele and decides to "save him" from himself, things get interesting. I laughed so hard I almost cried. What a fun story! If you haven’t tried Heartsong books thinking they would be too "religious" or too "mushy," you should give The Pastor’s Assignment a try. I think you’ll enjoy the story from start to finish.
