Erin Price is a journalist, hungry for a scoop. The death of an unknown man takes her to an old Victorian house. The inhabitants within are not your average people. In fact they act like they are from another planet. Erin knows somehow they are connected to her mystery man and she is going to find out how. She needs a scoop to save her career and one up her rival.

The last thing Drakor needs is a human and a journalist hanging around asking questions. He and his family are on a mission on Earth. The health of his people depends on the success of his assignment. He also needs to find a missing colleague. Drakor is not particularly enamored of Earth or its inhabitants. He wants to get the job done and go home. Erin is a distraction he does not need.

Dark, sexy and infinitely wantable Drakor has completely captured Erin’s attention. And she is pretty sure, despite his words to the contrary, the feeling is mutual. So why is Drakor trying to avoid her and why does she even care? Erin is chasing a story not a desirable man. She has to remember that. As for Drakor, he is completely aware of the chemistry between him and Erin Price. And he is not happy about it. He wants to go back to his planet, Elliac, and find his soul mate before it is too late and he ends up alone. He cannot allow himself to get involved with a human, no matter how attracted he is to her.

The building awareness and sexual tension between Erin and Drakor drags up all sorts of issues for the characters. Erin starts to wonder whether a front page scoop to annoy her adversary is worth exposing a family and ruining a promising relationship. Whilst Drakor’s concept of a soul mate takes a dramatic turn. Whatever cultural or planetary prejudices each of them have are challenged when true feelings and needs are realized.

I really enjoyed the storyline of The Price of Discovery. It is unique. Sure, there is love and passion and commitment to a cause, but there is also a completely different view of what is the stereotypical vision of an alien. Drakor is no little green man. I wondered, like Erin, what you would do when faced with this completely bizarre situation. Which urges would you follow? The rational or the passionate? To me the theme of this book is that regardless of what race or belief you have, love cannot be easily packaged. If it’s meant to happen it will.

I always like a book that grabs my attention on the first couple of sentences. I instantly wanted to know what was going on. I reckon that’s the mark of a good book. And the sudden ending of The Price of Discovery made me want to read more about the characters. I hope there is a sequel.
