Men are like bonnets: There is a use for all of them, they are easy to exchange and, depending on the mood, they offer diversity for the woman wearing them.
Miss Philomena Wellesley-Clegg is a young regency heiress whose comical struggle to find a bigger purpose in life (as well as a "bonnet" that will stand the tests and trials of a regency heiress) will truly entertain readers of historical and women’s fiction. The author presents a fun and impressive cast of bonnets…I mean men…to keep the reader more than interested.
Will the right bridegroom…come on down!
Lord Elmhurst: The catch who wants a wife whose pedigree is as good as his own.
Viscount Elverton: The Mother’s choice. Nice, but incessantly chatty about dogs and horses. The only things he truly loves.
The Mad Poet: Handsome, but a little daft. Overly anxious to please, he’s searching for his muse.
Thomas Darrowby: Poor, but affable; her brother’s best friend who would certainly be a good solid bonnet for life – like a pair of comfortable shoes.
Lord Aylesworth: My personal favorite. The lord seems to love "bonnets" as much as Philomena does, not to mention he’s a wiz with gowns, hair, theater and gossip.
Then, of course, the cowboy – the rake – the black sheep of an otherwise perfect family…Inigo Linsley. Think Mr. Darcy but not as proper and uptight. How do you conform to society’s rules with such a perfect man running about?
This book is a great romp – a pleasure to read – articulate, thoughtful, fun and charming. I can’t say enough about it. Enjoy!
