Scrooge is alive and well in the form of Dante Russo. He’s a self-made millionaire who came from poverty-ridden streets. And it seems he’s forgotten or perhaps never learned what it is to be compassionate, caring. Control and power is the name of the game. To me, his motto appears to be "do unto others before they do unto you".
Yet he finds himself coming undone with thoughts of former mistress, Taylor Sommer. There was something about her that was unlike anyone he’d ever known. That thought is too sentimental for him, so he brings out his ruthless side and gives in to the need to make her pay for leaving him.
Taylor had to leave Dante three years ago. She was falling in love with him, something she knew he wouldn’t tolerate. So disappearing with her secrets still intact was the only way out. But now he’s found her and he means to make her pay.
Though pay for what is the question. Leaving him? Making the first move? Causing him to feel? Having another man’s baby? It’s these things Dante has to work through to find the answers before he can be at peace.
Harlequin Presents is known for its passion and The Sicilian’s Christmas Bride upholds their reputation. Not strictly in the context of sexual passion, but with the internal passion, desires, struggles, and characteristics of both Dante and Taylor.
The miracles of Christmas and love, both of which should not be left to the season alone, are found within the pages of this book. It was a pleasure to see Dante and Taylor discover the meaning of both. It was a gentle reminder to us all.
Sandra Marton, an author who can bring a tear to the eye and make you shudder with a sigh. Can it get any better than that?
