The Sweetest Hours is a compilation of short stories written by Laura Pedersen. Because of this, the reader gets an interesting overview of Laura Pedersen’s talents. Granted the stories she writes about are all about love but not necessarily in the way you might think.
For example, the very first story is one I dearly loved and got me hooked on the book. It is entitled "Gus Hunts for a Job" and is about a dog who loves his children and how his relationship with each changes as they age. Then when they are adults, Gus must find a new love for himself, hence the job. Did you ever stop to think about love from a pet’s perspective?
Then there is "After the Season" which talks about a bed and breakfast offering romance – guaranteed. Again, this description gives you one idea but the story is something totally different. I won’t give it away because it is really cute and I really found love for one’s self can be raised in interesting fashions.
Then there is "Irish Twins" which demonstrates the love between two sisters. This story also shows the reader not to always take people or events at face value.
For women of today who are on the go, The Sweetest Hours is a great book to keep in your bag, briefcase, car or nightstand when you need a sweet and yet mildly thought-provoking vignette to pass some time.
Very well done, Laura, and a very interesting concept – tough to pull off well, but you did it!
