Love Finds You in Treasure Island, Florida by Debby Mayne is the story of Amanda Burns, a bicycle shop owner in Treasure Island, Florida. In addition to taking care of her shop, Amanda also helps take care of her sister Lacy, a teacher who is emotionally draining on Amanda.
Every year a man named Jerry Simpson stops into Amanda’s shop to rent a tandem bike and helmets. Amanda discovers that Jerry is renting the bike for his parents who he goes on vacation with. Soon Amanda starts to become interested in Jerry and he in her. They find out that they are both religious and Amanda introduces Jerry and his family to her church.
Jerry has always felt responsible for caring for his aging parents, especially now that they aren’t that well. But his parents have other things in mind. They do their best to try and match Jerry up with Amanda. Jerry’s dad insists that there is a real treasure on Treasure Island, something that he tries to get Jerry to help him look for.
It takes Jerry a while to realize that the treasure his dad is talking about is love, and he wants Jerry to find it with Amanda. I enjoyed this book and the characters of Amanda and Jerry. It was nice to see love bloom in a couple who is a little older than the typical 20 year olds often portrayed in love stories.
I also enjoyed the other side stories in this book including the one with Lacy, her love interest Brad and his little boy Timmy who is one of her students. It was also interesting to watch the relationship grow between Timmy and Mr. Simpson, Jerry’s dad. All in all, an interesting fun inspirational romance.
