After a night of trying to stop a dolphin kidnapping in progress, chasing animal rights activists, and murder…well let’s just say Steve Solomon’s effort to be the hero for his nephew, Bobby, landed him one of his biggest cases. Or rather he landed on one of his biggest cases.

It doesn’t matter that he didn’t go through his usual channels to chase, um, get this case; Steve realizes this case could mean big things for the Solomon and Lord Law firm. Defending the D.A.’s nephew, Gerald Nash, a man he tackled on a moving jet ski, from a felony murder charge would mean a lot of media coverage.

Since it’s the D.A.’s nephew, there’s a conflict of interest for the prosecution. Who do they swear in as acting D.A., but Victoria Lord. It should be a simple case, a quick win for the prosecution. But with Steve as counsel for the defense and more tricks up his sleeve than Houdini, she knows she’s in for a bumpy ride.

With things not adding up and his client facing some big time in prison, Steve gets some help from Bobby, and the courtroom gang, and after some fighting, cooperation and help from Victoria in putting the pieces to the puzzle where they belong. With a few twists and turns and a few dead ends Steve begins to see the bigger picture and exactly what roles Nash, the ecoterroists, and even the government has been playing in this scenario.

Levine’s writing is razor-sharp; from the off-beat characters, action, dialogue, and plot to the fast-paced scenes and well-placed clues. Every aspect of the story was well balanced, the transitions from one scene to another seamless.

So far, this is my favorite Solomon Vs. Lord novel. At least until the next one is released and Levine outdoes himself.

Trial & Error is humorous and edgy. Very entertaining.
