Skye Kellerman has lived through what no woman should. She was awakened in her bed by a man holding a knife to her throat. Skye was not the ordinary victim and she fought back to be point she injured him. Those injuries helped the police to capture Dr. Oliver Burke and charge him. Her would-be rapist was put in jail yet Skye was determined to use that night as a reminder and the strength to go on. Skye, along with her friends Jasmine and Sheridan, starts The Last Stand which is an organization to support and teach victims of violent crimes. Granted Skye still looks around every corner, but things are getting better each day. Until she finds out that Dr. Burke is being released very early from prison.

David Willis is the detective who worked the case the first time. The emotions between he and Skye were electric but he was determined to make his marriage work for the sake of his son. Now David has heard that Dr. Burke is getting out of prison and the case opens once again. David knows with every fiber of his being that Skye is not the only woman Dr. Burke ever hurt and he is sure that this same man will be after some revenge for what he perceives Skye did.

Now that David’s past relationship is even rockier and Skye is beginning to open up again, can the two of them work together to solve the past and then put it behind them.

Brenda Novak has created a riveting work through Skye and David. The characters are raw and real and their emotions come out with everything from love, to lust, to fear, to confusion and so many more. As a reader, our emotions run right along with their’s. The storyline itself is constantly moving and growing and yet the reader is able to stay with it step for step. Strong characters, edgy plot, vivid scenery – what else could a reader want?

Given all of that if you are still curious as to whether or not there is a downside to this manuscript, I will have to chuckle a bit and say "just a bit." It is so good that you won’t want to put it down. I made the mistake of trying to read it before going to bed on a work night. Needless to say, I didn’t go to sleep anytime soon and I was dragging a bit at work the next day. All in all, though, I would do it again in a heartbeat. Trust Me is worth it!
