Family problems made it impossible for the Sinclairs’ to stay together so two of the four sisters, Kat and Nell head west as mail-order brides. Having corresponded with their intendeds for months, Nell has dreams of a romantic future while Kat feels only duty-bound. When they arrived in Cripple Creek neither man was there to great his bride.

The situation was bleak; fire had broken out shortly after they arrived and they soon discovered that Kat’s fiancé was dead and Nell’s was missing. There was little they could do except dig in and help as they looked to God for answers.

Hoping to start a new life after grieving the loss of his wife and baby, Dr. Morgan Cutshaw came to Cripple Creek to serve at the hospital. He arrived just in time to help those affected by the fire. There were few things Morgan felt good about in his life but he did feel God lead him to help these people.

Soon Kat and Morgan meet – and not under the best of circumstances. It seemed that Morgan had a knack for irritating Kat and he was very good at it. But it wasn’t long before their feelings began to change though neither one of them were going to "give in" without a fight. Kat was determined to continue to be the independent person she was – her dream of writing now her goal. And Morgan was determined not to love again.

Nell was under duress; unable to find the man she loved and intended to marry. Kat was determined to stay a single independent woman and Morgan just couldn’t love again. How is God going to make good come of these distressing situations? Will Nell’s fiancé be found and her dreams of love become real? Will Kat and Morgan be able to trust in God’s direction and let Him lead them in this new land?

Two Brides Too Many was a delightful inspirational story full of twists and turns that will keep the reader turning the pages. It’s not your typical romance, telling the tale of two sisters who are both determined to make a life for themselves and for the sake of their family. The characters were well written with a bundle of real emotions. You felt for the characters as they addressed each turn of event they had to deal with.

Though a veteran writer, this is Mona Hodgson’s first inspirational novel. Two Brides Too Many is a great debut story that both entertains and gives food for thought. I look forward to the next book in the series as Ms Hodgson builds on her craft of mixing inspiration with romance.
