Thanks to Maddie Springer’s imagination and wee bit of a jealous streak, and her best friend Dana’s encouragement, Maddie lands herself and her (boy)friend, Ramirez, in hot water after a shoot out at a club where Ramirez was "on the job".
After the meeting-gone-bad with his informant (do I need to repeat…thanks to Maddie), Ramirez is reassigned to baby sit Mia Carletto, star of Magnolia Lane. A temporary position until they can find out who is sending the star threatening letters and until his superior has a memory lapse regarding Maddie’s involvement in above mentioned meeting-gone-bad.
Of course Maddie feels so badly about Ramirez’s reassignment that she and Dana are going to help him out. It’s not too difficult when you know someone who knows someone to finagle your way onto the set with new jobs. It shouldn’t be too hard to find the culprit with Maddie being the wardrobe assistant and Dana a cast extra. Easy! Observe, question, snoop.
Helloooo!? We’re talking about Maddie here! Where she is trouble follows. Murder for one thing. Veronika, stand-in to Mia, is found in Mia’s trailer…strangled by pantyhose. Someone obviously mistook her for the star. And that’s just the icing on the cake. Icky things (read for yourself) left for Maddie as gifts, a car chase, a birthday party gone wild. And another murder!!
How are all these things (and more) connected? Maddie doesn’t feel like the pieces are fitting, but someone is sure after her, so she must be getting close. If that weren’t enough, she’s got dweeby-tabloid reporter, Felix, not only helping her, but also wreaking havoc on her feelings, making her question (only for a moment or two) her relationship (whatever that really is) with Ramirez. She sooo doesn’t need that right now. Right now she has to focus on staying alive long enough to find the killer.
A delightful escapade, featuring the characters we’ve come to know, love, and make fun of, umm, laugh with. I loved the tension and fun Felix creates. Mom and Mrs. R could have been called on a bit more to "help", though I know it would have driven Maddie crazier than they already drove her.
As far as disappointments go, I really missed Marcus. Poor Marcus was left at Faux Dad’s salon and only had a couple scenes. Did I say I really missed him?
Undercover in High Heels was worth the wait! Maddie is on a bullet-spraying, wardrobe-ruining, get-her-(boy)friend-back, high-speed, stranger-danger adventure and she’s willing to take you along for the ride. And what a ride it is!
