Olivia Sotiris is a psychologist for the FBI. After dealing with a vicious and psychotic killer, Olivia is given some well deserved time off to recuperate. She decides to travel to Greece to spend some time with her grandmother before the holidays. Olivia and her grandmother have a special gift. They are able to read peopleís emotions so that they can tell when someone is telling a lie. This is why Olivia is so good at her job and why a particular criminal is stalking her. Oliviaís grandmother believes that setting her up with one of the eligible bachelors in town will help her forget her troubles. While looking through her grandmotherís telescope one night Olivia sees the perfect distraction in Robby MacKay.
Robbie works for Romatech Securities in New York and is also a vampire. He has been forced to take an extended vacation after his bout with the Malcontents (bad vampires) and his subsequent torture by them. Robbie is not happy to just sit around and wait to be welcomed back. He wants revenge for the travesty done to him. While running on the beach one night he notices the most beautiful woman looking down at him. He thinks he sees a goddess. Maybe a long vacation is just what he needs.
This is the latest in Kerrelyn Sparks Love at Stakes series. This has got to be one of the best vampire series I have read besides Laurell K Hamiltonís Anita Blake series. Iím not sure what it is that just makes me turn pages at a breakneck speed. There is love, adventure and plenty of humor and has such richly written characters. While Robby and Oliviaís story is not my favorite to date (got to love Jack), it still a great love story. I cannot wait to see what Ms. Sparks comes up with next.
