The orphanage where Emily McCarthy taught "sold" her as a mail-order bride to a wealthy rancher in Montana. Emily was devastated, though not the ideal school; the orphanage had been her home for years before she became a teacher. Would God really allow her to marry a complete stranger?

With no other law around, vigilante law was the law Luke Sullivan enforced working for a prominent rancher in Montana Territory. Thieves and outlaws were made to pay for what they did. But Luke had had enough, so he quits and rides for home. Home was New Hope, an orphanage where he grew up but New Hope was also a working ranch, a place where Luke found comfort; where he could do what he loved without the vigilante tag. Little did Luke know that the stage he meets on the way home would change his life forever.

Emily was on the last legs of her journey to meet her future husband, Bart Axel when she’s kidnapped. Now what was he to do with her; Luke didn’t intend to take Emily but when he heard she was to marry his arch-enemy and neighbor, he couldn’t leave her to that fate. He didn’t have a choice but to take her home.

Tension flies between Emily and Luke but when Emily meets Bart it doesn’t take but a minute to determine she could never marry him. As hostility builds between Luke and Bart, Bart sets out to make sure that Luke and New Hope don’t get in his way.

Emily is in her haven at New Hope. It doesn’t take long for Emily and Luke to realize that they are on the same side and their feelings for each other blooms quickly. But the closer they get the more "mishaps" happen. Their goal is to see that justice is done. Can Luke leave his vigilante past and let the law do its job?

Emily’s strong godly convictions make an impression on Luke but God hasn’t had time for Luke. Can Emily show Luke that God has His hand in their circumstances, though dire they may seem? How will God turn all this evil for good and pull Luke and Emily closer to Him?

The Vigilante’s Bride is a tender romance full of adventure that will keep you on the edge of your seat. Yvonne Harris has a way of painting the scenes with just enough detail to cart you back in time where you think you’re watching the story unfold. The characters make an impression with their convictions, whether good or evil. Emily and Luke are good for each other pulling on each others’ strengths to lighten their weaknesses.

With The Vigilante’s Bride as her first novel, Ms. Harris has proved her talent. Anticipation is high to find out what the next book has in store for her readers.
