Nurse Rachel Garrett loves her job. She’s always wanted to help people and she’s very good at it. Rachel comes to Rockdale to start over after a woman about to give birth dies in her care through no fault of her own. One of the first medical cases that Rachel sees in Rockdale is a woman that miscarries and dies. Well, it seems to be happening all over again, but Rachel now knows that she shouldn’t blame herself. God is in control and though she doesn’t always understand His reasons, His way is best.
Deputy Luke Mason became a lawman because he wanted to follow in his father’s footsteps. Luke adored his father but when Luke was a teenager, his father was killed in the line of duty. Turning his back on God, bitterness took over Luke’s life. How can a loving God take a good man away from his family, a family that loved him and needed him?
Being thrown together often, it doesn’t take long for the attraction that Rachel and Luke have for each other to grow. However, Luke doesn’t understand how Rachel can just accept the bad things that happen; especially when little accidents start happening to her. At first Rachel waves them off, but each mishap becomes more serious; still she maintains her faith and helps Luke find his faith again. That is until Rachel is shot. Luke will not go through losing someone he loves again.
Will they discover who is trying to hurt Rachel? God does have His reasons for all things though we may not understand them, but will Luke be convinced? Can Luke accept God’s timing and recognize that the time and love that he and Rachel can have is precious?
Ms Mowery has once more written a story that is full of action, a little mystery, romance and inspiration that kept me on the edge of my seat, not wanting to put it down. Again, I loved the new characters in this story but was slightly disappointed that the characters from the previous two books were not as big a part of book 3 as the characters from the first book were in book 2. Even at that I found myself engrossed in the tale and enjoyed the reminders of the inspirational message.
Take some time to get to know the good folks of Rockdale; their stories will stay with you long after the reading is over.
