Zane Brody is a laid back cowboy who’s used to getting his way by flashing his dimples and using his charm. That’s how he survived and protected himself. Charm them, never get too close.

His charm, however, seems to have failed when it comes to Mary Dunleavy. Sent from Laramie to New York to pick up a thoroughbred and have his “adventure”, he literally sweeps Mary off her feet in Central Park and lifts her out of harm’s way.

Mary, immune to Zane’s charm, wastes no time informing him he’s annoying. But no matter, she’ll never see him again. She’s on her way to Wyoming to teach. And she’s thrilled when her brother and doctor, Marcus, decides to pack up and go with her.

Zane becomes extremely ill, but manages to collect Diamond Glory as well as a bonus, and boards the train headed for Wyoming. His adventure it seems is at an end.

No, it’s only starting. The doctor (Marcus) is asked to see to a sick passenger. When he does so it puts Zane in contact with Mary. Mary. There’s something about her that intrigues him, makes him want to get her goat. But there’s also something else between them, something he’s never felt. Something only she can bring out in him. Something he’s never known he’s had.

After a stop and trouble in St. Louis they’re on their way again. Though the trouble doesn’t end there. Events are set into motion with a few options open to handle the situation. But it’s taken out of his hands as Mary lets her impulsiveness get the better of her and charges into unknown territory unprepared and unthinking. Much to Zane’s anger and dismay.

As Zane tries to figure a way out of the mess she got them into, he swings back and forth between the need to wring her neck to the desire to kiss the stuffing out of her. But of course when you follow an impetuous woman into dangerous territory, brave the elements with nothing but a .45, risk your life for her and the horse, well, it’s got to be love, right? Only if he survives.

Zane with his charm, and Mary with her impetuousness make for exciting reading. Their chemistry is undeniable and often combusts. I loved Zane and Lucifer’s love/hate relationship, too!

One downside for me was the extent and frequency of Mary’s impulsive behavior. It often came to this side of annoying. However, when it reached that point, Mary would realize what she’d done and try to make it right, which got me back on track with her.

How nice it was to read a book packed with action, emotions, and plot. There were none of the pages of sex or profanity laced dialogue that seems standard nowadays. Cheers to Cindy, and Thanks!

It was such a pleasure to read Whirlwind. Cindy wove a gripping and thoroughly enjoyable tale reminiscent of the wonderful westerns of years past yet with her own freshly unique style.

Oh, BTW, Cindy, what about Marcus?
