What a delightful short story. As with many short stories, I found this to be too short for my personal tastes. However, With This Ring was an exceptionally well-written story, which was very fun to read.
Lucinda and Thomas have known each other for years and are fast friends. Thomas is still an eligible bachelor who is very much sought after by mamas trying to land a good catch for their daughters. Lucinda is almost at spinster age and still hasn’t found the man she’s looking for. Will they be able to maintain their friendship or should they try to develop their relationship into something more than friends?
Ms. Pray does an excellent job of writing a short story. She manages to give us enough background for the readers to feel as though we know the characters, but she does it quickly so we can get to the actual story. Again, I think Ms. Pray has a wonderful talent for writing a short story. I found this story to be well-written, easy to read and easy to follow the storyline. It was a very pleasant diversion to just lift your spirits.
