Pie Filling Coffee Cake

Cake:
1 plain yellow cake mix (NOT pudding in the mix!)
1 large (20 oz.) pie filling (peach, cherry, apricot are best)
1/2 tsp. lemon or almond extract
3 large eggs
1/2 c. nuts (pecans, almonds, walnuts)

Topping:
1/2 stick butter or margarine
1/2 c. flour
1/2 c. sugar
1/2 tsp. extract (same as used for the cake)
1/2 c. nuts (same as used for the cake)

Mix the cake ingredients together. Pour batter into a greased and floured 13 x 9 baking dish. BEFORE baking, pour or spread the premixed topping over the batter. Bake in a preheated 350 degree oven for 40-45 minutes until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean. Serving suggestions: Warm with whipped topping Cold without whipped topping Recipe given to me by my maternal Grandmother, Le Greta Ross.
