What genres are accepted for review?

We review most romance genres, general fiction, women’s fiction, mysteries, young adult, and from time to time biographies.

For the foreseeable future, we do not review erotic(a)/romantica or gay/lesbian books.

We do not review self-published/print-on-demand/vanity press works.

What formats are accepted for review?

Preferred formats are the book itself, ARC's and printed Galleys.

E-books or html/pdf files are accepted, however, there may be some reviewers who won't/can't take this format. The decision is theirs.

Note: The book must be edited and ready for publishing.

What type of ratings scale do you use?

We choose to rate (5-1) the overall book as well as sexual content, language (profanity/slang) and violent content to better inform the reader.

All efforts will be made to be as fair and accurate as possible. Remember, the reviewer's thoughts and comments are subjective.

Can quotes be used on my website or in other (publisher's/publicists) promotional campaigns?

Yes. Once posted, you have permission to quote the review on your website or for other promotional needs/campaigns.

Please use and include proper credits, source, and copyrights.

A reciprocal link to your review would be appreciated.

Can I request a particular reviewer to read/review my book?

Yes. However the request should go through the review coordinator and not through the reviewer.

There may be times your preferred reviewer is not available and your book will need to be assigned to another.

What is the anticipated turnaround time for reviews to be posted?

Allow at least 4-6 weeks for us to receive, assign/send, read, and post the review of your book.

There may be exceptions to this so please be patient. We’ll stick as closely to this timeframe as possible.

You'll be notified when the review is posted with the URL included.

How long will the review be posted?

Upcoming releases will be featured from the time posted until at least 30 days past the release date. Thereafter it will go to an "archive" page appropriate to its genre.

Can I send/mail my book directly to the reviewer?

Yes. After you’ve submitted your request and have heard back from the review coordinator.

In all fairness to other authors who have gone through these same channels, please Do Not send/mail a book without the review coordinator's ok, we keep track of requests, books out/assigned pending review and reviews posted.

Is there anything the author should remember?

Yes. The reviewer is volunteering their valuable time. Their only compensation is the copy of the book and seeing their work "published."

All reviews are subjective to the reviewer's taste and views.

As an "extra," please consider autographing the copy of the ARC or Galley and sending a bookmark with the copy.

How do I submit a review request?

Using the Review Request Form supply us with the info we need about you and your book.

Once your request is submitted, the Review Coordinator will respond within a week.

Any books sent unsolicited (unless by prior agreement) will be placed at the bottom of the TBR pile. We will not guarantee a turn around time, nor will we guarantee it will be reviewed.

Note: All reviews written for OUAR site are not to be used for/on any other review website unless unless used in promotional campaigns; the reviewer’s name should be sited along with OnceUponARomance.net as the source.

DISCLAIMER: While we would love to accept each book for review, it simply may not be possible. At this time we only have a certain number of reviewers and they want to be as fair and accurate in their reviews as they possibly can be and not feel rushed.
